MENTAWAI CHARTER BOAT LICENSES STILL AVAILABLE
Some charter boats that requested licenses for 2008 failed to complete the documentation required. The MMTA has agreed to offer other charter boats the opportunity to apply for a 2008 license under the following companies: - PT Bintang Samudera Mentawai - 3 Mentawai Charter Boat Licenses (

2007 MENTAWAI RETRIBUTION TARIFF BALANCE DUE
MMTA staff are busy to make all tax calculations for all boats. We ask your cooperation to make a final report as request by the Mentawai Dept of Tourism and Culture in October 2007.
- Each Mentawai Tourism Operator should now submit a revised list of charter boats and tax calculation with balance owing to MMTA for all boats that have signed contracts for operating license in 2008. MMTA will issue the license plate to every boat on confirm of payment by their MTO company.
- Unlicensed boats owners (MMTA members or nonmembers) who did operate in Mentawai in 2007 season (Independent Boat) were request to send datas on 4th December 2007 to MMTA. Any boat owner that did not send datas will now be assumed to have full season in Mentawai in 2007. Calculation will be based on advertise trip, duration and capacity of boat.
- MMTA will send these tax calculations to all independent boat owner or shipping agent with instructions to pay outstanding funds to PEMDA Mentawai's bank account. Boat owners or agents may dispute the calculation by submitting proofs to MMTA that they operated a lower number of days / passengers in Mentawai waters. MMTA will complete the full report to PEMDA Mentawai by 23 January 2008. MTO final list of charter boats should be ready by 21 of January 2008.
2008 MMTA MEMBERSHIP FEES
MMTA membership fees for 2008 will be:
- Rp 2,000,000 per licensed boat. (MTO company is responsible to collect from boat owner)
- Rp 3,000,000 per Mentawai Tourism Operators License holder.
Membership payments are due by 28th of January 2008
2008 TARIFF SITUATION
There is no change yet to the $3 per person per day Tourism Object Tariff decided by PEMDA Mentawai. MMTA have announced the new $2 per person per day Community Development Tariff will apply to all MTO member guests participating in Marine Tourism activities in 2008. Please advise your agent and guest to pay on arrival.
COOPERATE FOR EFFICIENT USE OF FUNDS
MMTA requests that all members cooperate to report any unlicensed boat activity starting on January 1, 2008. As far as possible all administration will be completed by legal process against unlicensed boat or land accommodation to avoid disturbance to guest in the field and minimize cost of patrols. MMTA hopes that most funds can be applied to community program and not to administration and management overhead.

Some boat agents have reported that they have no copies of SIB documents for the 2007 season. Please see the instructions below in Indonesian language letter if your agent reports this problem. YTH. Liry
Kami telah membaca surat anda, dan perlu disampaikan kepada saudara
hal-hal sedbagai berikut:
1. PT. Andika Rizky Bahari sebagai perusahaan yang bergerak sebagai agen
pelayaran,wajib meregistrasi SIB yang telah diurusnya, karena dokumen
tersebut erat kaitannya dengan income dan tanggung jawab perusahaan pada
kapal yang diageninya.
2. Bahwa kami akan melaporkan trip dan kapasitas penumpang MV.Midas pada
pemda Mentawai sesuai dengan website MV.Midas, dan kalau dikemudian hari
dokumen SIB tahun 2007, telah ada, maka laporan berdasarkan Website dapat
direvisi.
