The Mentawai Marine Tourism Association is a non-profit industry association with over 40 members and an elected Committee of Management.

The MMTA a financially independent, nongovernment tourism association which manages an information center in  Padang, West Sumatra.

Income is derived from membership fees, member’s contribution per guest, and membership support.
Our primary charter is to protect the fragile marine environment in the vicinity of surf and dive resources in particular the coral reef structures that are the very foundation of the areas world famous surf breaks and dive locations.

As partners with the Regency's Administration, the MMTA is dedicated to raising the standard of living of Mentawai communities and supporting both sustainable village scale enterprise and job creation in remote parts of the archipelago.

The organization also promotes the Mentawai Region to the world as a premier marine tourism destination with exceptional investment potential.

2007 was our inaugural year of operation and we are now in active partnership with the Mentawai Government to implement management of surf and dive resources and to protect the Mentawai reef environment. We are a focused, innovative cohesive tourism organization with high values, fostering excellence in sustainable tourism. Committed to delivering a positive, unique and memorable tourism experience to all visitors.

Membership Fees
Joining fees are currently set at Rp2,000,000 p.a. for all ordinary members. Payment is due by 28th January.
