MMTA Chairman Roberthyl Saogo SH meeting with the West Sumatra Chamber of Commerce Chairman Bp Asnawi Bahar, SE discuss plans for cooperation in field of "Development and Management of Small Islands" in KARDIN office, Padang. As a member of KARDIN, MMTA will represent investment companies who have committed to land based development in Mentawai to grow the local economy and support sustainable tourism industry for the region and Province. Conflict between foreign boat owners and local investment companies has led to poor investment climate in the past but now with support of KARDIN and other authorities the MMTA will work hard to improve regulation and management control to increase tax revenue and to protect the Mentawai environment. MMTA will continue with coordination meetings with Customs, Immigration, Sea Communication and Dept of Foreign Affairs to reduce the risk of unlicensed activities in Mentawai. |

MMTA have been invited to the second in a series of meetings focused on the management of small islands in Indonesia. The key issues for this meeting are: - Increase efforts towards supervision in relation to the utilization of small islands
- The integrity of the supervision & the control of the operation of ships in waters around small islands
